General Manager
Yulissa Perfecto serves at the General Manager for the facility. She brings 20 years of experience in Operations Management and holds a degree in Industrial Engineering & Administration along with a degree in Meteorology. She has 10 years working with the United States Maritime Administration in assisting the procurement and logistics for the dismantling of U.S. non-retention military vessels. As a hands-on manager, she focuses on facility-wide safety while overseeing and monitoring key production metrics to identify opportunities for performance improvement.
Human Resources Manager
David S. Segura serves as the Human Resources Manager, bringing in over 15 years of HR experience. He currently supports as many as 180 local employees when fully staffed and supports our East Chicago headquarters HR Department at this location where he assists corporate in coordinating open enrollment plans, addressed employee issues, and train and guided employees on HR processes. David also brings over 15 years of working with the United States Maritime Administration in assisting the procurement and logistics for the dismantling of U.S. non-retention military vessels.

Pedro Martinez holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and has years of experience in environmental, marketing, and industrial sales. Mr. Martinez holds various certifications in environmental and industrial services and brings valuable insight and years of experience to our industrial sales dept.
Environmental Safety & Health Manager
As the Environmental Safety & Health Manager, Luis Ramirez develops and maintains all ES&H programs. With 8 years of experience he leads all the training for each team member, oversees the waste management program, and ensures the safety and health of our team. He is an active member of Toast Masters International Competent Communication Club and has firsthand experience implementing processes which include 5’s methodology as well as Lean Six Sigma.
IT Manager/RSO
As IT Manager, Mr. Lopez is responsible for SMS Southern locations IT infrastructure, websites, proprietary software, hardware, and warehousing, Mr. Lopez attended Capella University with a BS in CIS. Specializing in networking Mr. Lopez has certifications from CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) as well as MOUS (Microsoft Office User Specialist) and other certifications. Mr. Lopez also has certifications as a Radiation Safety Officer from Thermo Fisher Scientific.
